We are…

THE ARTISTRY OF NATURE

In the depths of some Central American lakes, entire rainforests stand forgotten. These ancient trees, alive for hundreds of years and submerged for decades, are beautifully altered by water. Shaped by nature’s own hand, the trees develop into distinctive forms that can only be described as singular.

At Reduxwood Lumber Company, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing this unique beauty before it is lost forever in a collection of contemporary live-edge wood products and furniture.

Comprised of layers of time, every slab in our facility and showroom tells an original story. From sun and wind to water and minerals, our wood products are defined by their environment. The grains, curves, and crevices are characteristics as unique as your fingerprint. Just as we carry our history within, so too do trees. At Reduxwood, we invite you to become another layer of their legendary story.

UNEARTHING A PASSION

Our company was founded by Justin Ephraim, who began his journey in lumber in 1992 on the North Shore Mountains of Vancouver, British Columbia. A decade ago, he relocated to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where a pivotal introduction to underwater wood led to the creation of Reduxwood.

Upon hearing about the incomparable underwater wood and the arduous methods to salvage it, Justin recognized an opportunity to share something truly special. He visited lakes to witness local divers navigate murky waters with hydraulic chainsaws to carefully free the trees, which were then floated to the surface and dried on the beach for six months. The experience inspired creativity, and underwater wood became a focus for Reduxwood. Once respectfully harvested, Justin works on the wood by hand, with materials derived from all natural, plant-based sources and with a minimalist approach, to create live-edge slabs like no other.

WE ARE MORE THAN CRAFTSMEN, WE ARE CARETAKERS.

Along with our  UnderWaterWood©  brand, we search the globe for ethically harvested, exotic trees that communicate an uncommon aesthetic rarely seen in furniture form. It is our intention to support sustainable forestry, honour nature, and conserve its artistry for future generations. We work with local teams to ensure timber is harvested legally and in compliance with the rules and regulations in import and export countries. We also offer FSC® products, and some of our hardwoods earn LEED credits.

HERALDS OF NATURE’S DESIGNS

Reduxwood has accumulated over 1000 live-edge slabs of reclaimed underwater and non-reclaimed tropical species – an inventory that continues to evolve. To introduce these unique woods and rare contemporary art forms into more interior designs around the world, we recently opened Reduxwood West, a showroom in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
